I know it is hard to comprehend. How does an infant become a burn victim? Well, in my case it was a careless mistake by my mom and a freak accident caused by my brother and sister. It was cold outside. My mom had been cooking something in a pan of hot grease on the stove. She opened the oven door for heat. I was crawling around on the kitchen floor when my brother and sister sat down on the oven door. This of course caused the oven to flip over and the pan of hot grease to go flying. My brother and sister didn’t get a scratch but that pan of hot grease landed on me. My face was burned extremely bad. From that moment on I became my mom’s little monster. She wouldn’t allow anyone to take pictures of me so I have no idea how bad it really was. That’s how I got the cruel nickname of little monster that shaped how I have always seen myself. The physical scars are gone now but, the mental scars will never go away.
